The care the staff at Martin’s House give my dad is outstanding. The staff have been exemplary through the COVID crisis and have steadfastly given an excellent level of care during the most difficult of circumstances. Their professionalism and excellent people skills have helped clients and families alike, up to and during the COVID crisis. The staff have all taken the time to get to know me as well as my father. I am so grateful for everything they do for him. My dad is so happy with the care he receives, he is treated with respect and dignity.

We also offer a host of social activities to entertain our residents, such as arts & crafts, baking & cooking, exercise and fitness classes, gardening and flower arranging, film nights, wine evenings and many more.

    The wonderful facilities at Martins House make a world of difference to our residents. Whether it’s chatting in the dementia café, serving other residents in our 1960s themed sweet shop or just pottering around the garden, there really is a favourite place for everyone. Rooms at Martins House vary in style and facilities, but the majority offer:

    Meaningful and fulfilling activities

    At every stage in life, maintaining your physical and mental health is important. We believe the key to this is to keep your mind, body, and soul stimulated and engaged every day, and this is a fundamental element of how we operate our homes.

    In every home in our group, we have a dedicated activities coordinator who, in conjunction with the wishes of the residents, creates a varied program of activities and celebrations. We encourage everyone to participate and join in the fun and comradery that these events can bring. We like to welcome new residents to our activity programme by incorporating their favourite activities, expanding our selection for all the community to enjoy. Designed to engage our residents both physically and mentally, our activity programmes are also a source of great fun and help residents to live life to the fullest. Most activities take place indoors. However, when the weather permits, we take maximum advantage of our lovely outdoor patio areas and adjoining gardens and also arrange local and national trips.

     

    No barriers to activity

    For every resident, in every setting, be it residential, nursing, or those living with dementia, everyone receives support to be mentally and physically active to enhance their experience while they are staying us. We recognise that independent activity, hobbies, and day-to-day tasks boost an individuals’ self-confidence. We appreciate individual needs and understand their capabilities as part of our person-centred care, as a result; we can be the support they need at the time that they need it.

    Dedicated Activity Coordinators

    Our Activity Coordinators establish activities that our residents enjoy at a frequency that maintains engagement. Some are scheduled so that a routine can be established, and others are organised and promoted so that our residents can look forward to a special occasion together. The coordinators will also discover what additional events and activities each resident would like to see and, where feasible, incorporate those ideas into something that all residents can participate in. Residents’ birthdays and special milestones are also celebrated together.

    We support our residents to maintain an active, healthy life within the home and the local community by having strong links with local groups. These relationships are designed to promote socialisation, mobility, interaction, independence, and self-confidence and to positively influence their health and well-being.

     

    Activities for Residents living with dementia

    For residents who live with dementia or require support with their mental health, speech therapies are just one way in which we can provide assistance. Other mediums such as touch, sense, colours, music, animal interaction, and activities that encourage reminiscence memory can stimulate mental agility and provide positive outcomes for our residents.

    Gold Care Homes strive to create delicious food dishes daily for our residents, maintaining the highest standards of food safety and nutritional value at all times. Our food service has been designed to replicate a home setting. Each food item has been specially selected to ensure our residents receive the right balance of nutrients while still appealing to the varied taste buds on offer. All residents are encouraged to eat and enjoy their meals in a social environment, such as communal lounges accompanied by fellow residents and staff.

    Every meal we produce for our residents reflects their own specific dietary needs as laid out in their care plan. It’s a cornerstone of our care policy and key to our person-centred approach. Besides the regular meal times, our food specialists regularly organise bespoke eating experiences, from outdoor BBQs to theme dinner parties. Restaurant experiences are also available when visitors wish to eat private meals with their loved ones. Visitors are also free to try our meals – just ask our Care Home Manager for a free tasting session.

     

  • Fees

    There are several options, including part and fully funded care. Prospective residents are advised to read our funding guide to understand the asset threshold requirements – this determines how much you are expected to pay. Residents can also access additional paid-for services including hairdressing, chiropody, opticians, daily reading material, and many more.

    For residents wishing to upgrade their room experience to include dedicated internet service, movies on demand, private phone line/mobile, large flat screen (and more), speak to our Care Home Manager regarding the Gold Care Plus and Platinum room packages. We have a limited number of beds available for local authority funded clients, please contact the home directly for availability and a price list.

Julie Farmer

Julie started her career as a Care Assistant and has obtained over 20 years of experience in the Care industry. She joined the Gold Care family in August 2016 as Care Manager of Martins House.
She has completed several NVQ’s in different areas and has a diploma LEVEL 5 in Health & Social Care. In 2019, her home, Martins House was rated overall Good by CQC and Outstanding in Responsive, which was a great achievement for the home, and for Julie.
