Care Home Rating & Reviews

Many thanks to the staff who cared for my mother, for their professionalism, patience, kindness and understanding. A very welcoming and friendly place and very deserving of its gold standard. Under their care, my mother was the best she’d been for years – both appearance and happiness.

I visit my Aunt on average three to four times a year and I always notify the staff at Burrows House of my forthcoming visit. Each time I visit I am constantly impressed by the care and kindness towards my Aunt by the staff, all staff. Her physical care is excellent. She is well presented. She is treated with dignity. The staff understand her needs and appear to know her well. Her room is cosy and clean.

My mum was a resident in this care home for nearly six years until she recently passed away. In all that time I found the staff to be very caring and helpful for all my mum’s needs. My mum still attended her church services and the home always had her ready to be picked up. I could not have asked for a better team of people when I was struggling myself with mum. It’s very clean and tidy, you’re always made to feel welcome. The food looked lovely. Well done.

My husband and I are very pleased with this care home. Our friend who has Alzheimer’s is happier than she has been for a long time since she has been in the home. The home has a lovely friendly atmosphere and is bright and clean. The staff are always available to speak to, our friend could not be happier and content and we have peace of mind.

(Friend of Resident)

We were very nervous when Mum needed to move into care. From the moment we stepped through the door we were treated to a wonderful welcome, shown around the whole home, met the staff and residents, even the chef popped out to say hello. We cannot praise the care and respect our Mum received enough. They treated her like family and the care she received was above and beyond anything we could have wished for. Thank you.

  • Lifestyle

    Meaningful and fulfilling activities

At every stage in life, maintaining your physical and mental health is important. We believe the key to this is to keep your mind, body, and soul stimulated and engaged every day, and this is a fundamental element of how we operate our homes.

In every home in our group, we have a dedicated activities coordinator who, in conjunction with the wishes of the residents, creates a varied program of activities and celebrations. We encourage everyone to participate and join in the fun and comradery that these events can bring. We like to welcome new residents to our activity programme by incorporating their favourite activities, expanding our selection for all the community to enjoy. Designed to engage our residents both physically and mentally, our activity programmes are also a source of great fun and help residents to live life to the fullest.

Most activities take place indoors. However, when the weather permits, we take maximum advantage of our lovely outdoor patio areas and adjoining gardens and also arrange local and national trips.

    No barriers to activity

For every resident, in every setting, be it residential, nursing, or those living with dementia, everyone receives support to be mentally and physically active to enhance their experience while they are staying us. We recognise that independent activity, hobbies, and day-to-day tasks boost an individuals’ self-confidence. We appreciate individual needs and understand their capabilities as part of our person-centred care, as a result; we can be the support they need at the time that they need it.

    Dedicated Activity Coordinators

Our Activity Coordinators establish activities that our residents enjoy at a frequency that maintains engagement. Some are scheduled so that a routine can be established, and others are organised and promoted so that our residents can look forward to a special occasion together. The coordinators will also discover what additional events and activities each resident would like to see and, where feasible, incorporate those ideas into something that all residents can participate in. Residents’ birthdays and special milestones are also celebrated together.

We support our residents to maintain an active, healthy life within the home and the local community by having strong links with local groups. These relationships are designed to promote socialisation, mobility, interaction, independence, and self-confidence and to positively influence their health and well-being.

Activities for residents living with dementia

For residents who live with dementia or require support with their mental health, speech therapies are just one way in which we can provide assistance. Other mediums such as touch, sense, colours, music, animal interaction, and activities that encourage reminiscence memory can stimulate mental agility and provide positive outcomes for our residents.
