Food and drink
Good food is more than just how it looks and tastes, although we know this plays a part. For all of us, but particularly for older people, good food also needs to provide all of the nutritional value we need to maintain good physical and mental health. At Gold Care Homes, we prioritise this so that all of the residents in our care can stay healthier, for longer.
At all of our homes, talented chefs deliver menus to satisfy even the most discerning palette, ensuring that meals are well-presented, appetising and well-balanced. We know that many older people are unfussy in their way of eating too, so we work closely with the care team and our residents to understand their preferences to ensure that what’s on offer, always satisfies.
We also understand that many older people prefer smaller meals, or snack options and so whilst breakfast, lunch and supper are always catered for, residents who prefer can opt for the variety of snacks that are available, all day, every day.
Hydration is important too. At all of our homes, you will see hydration stations, where residents can access fruit juice, water and other soft drinks at any time of the day or night. Many of our homes also have coffee shops or cafés offering a variety of options to keep their thirst quenched.
While our residents do have the option to eat in their rooms if they prefer, we try our best to encourage as many as possible to eat in our dining rooms to promote the social aspect that dining in the company of others can offer. Family and friends are welcome to dine with our residents too, and special occasions, like family birthdays, can be personally catered for on discussion with our chef, ensuring that you never miss an opportunity to celebrate together.
We love a themed menu too! You’ll often find us participating in events such as World Food Day or Food Diversity Week, combining activities and food together allowing our residents to experience foods from all over the world, or even just celebrating the humble pie on British Pie Week. Whatever the occasion, food plays an active part in life at our homes.
Examples of our menus can be found here, but if you’d like to sample our food at any of our homes, get in touch with our Home Manager to arrange a visit. We will be delighted to show you everything a Gold Care home has to offer.
