Care Home Rating & Reviews

My mother who is 94 is now so happy and very jolly. During COVID in March, she has been isolated on her own and her mentality had gone downhill dramatically not interacting nor having any conversations her dementia worsened. Now! what a difference she is laughing, singing, she is so happy staying here and takes great delight telling the family members how much she enjoys living here. Highly recommended, excellent facilities, friendly caring staff. I wish my mother lived here in March rather than recently of 2 months.

From the first visit not only was my grandmother made to feel welcome and at home but the family was as well. The way the staff have looked after her through this emotional time has been faultless. I cannot thank them enough.

Came in to see Dad today and immediately noticed a difference. The decoration was always clean and tidy but there are now some nice homely touches. Ornaments on the wall, vases, wallpaper, etc. Not tacky but tastefully done! Residents are always given great care, now it’s like walking around dad’s home. Which of course it is! A year in and dad is as happy as ever. Well done Heath Lodge.

(Son of Resident)

I knew the care home was taking good care of my relative when she told me she was very happy in the home. Even though she had dementia she was aware enough to know the staff were loving and kind. She had her 100th birthday at the home and it was lovely – telegrams, balloons, lovely cake and an entertainer who held her hand and sang to her. She loved it. Thank you Heath Lodge staff for all your love and kindness towards my loved one.

My experience of Heath Lodge has been very good. They have kept me informed about Mum at all times and have really cared for her very well. Mum is obviously happy and has a connection with the carers; this is so important to me.

    Meaningful and fulfilling activities

At every stage in life, maintaining your physical and mental health is important. We believe the key to this is to keep your mind, body, and soul stimulated and engaged every day, and this is a fundamental element of how we operate our homes.

In every home in our group, we have a dedicated activities coordinator who, in conjunction with the wishes of the residents, creates a varied program of activities and celebrations. We encourage everyone to participate and join in the fun and comradery that these events can bring. We like to welcome new residents to our activity programme by incorporating their favourite activities, expanding our selection for all the community to enjoy. Designed to engage our residents both physically and mentally, our activity programmes are also a source of great fun and help residents to live life to the fullest.

Most activities take place indoors. However, when the weather permits, we take maximum advantage of our lovely outdoor patio areas and adjoining gardens and also arrange local and national trips.

    No barriers to activity

For every resident, in every setting, be it residential, nursing, or those living with dementia, everyone receives support to be mentally and physically active to enhance their experience while they are staying us. We recognise that independent activity, hobbies, and day-to-day tasks boost an individuals’ self-confidence. We appreciate individual needs and understand their capabilities as part of our person-centred care, as a result; we can be the support they need at the time that they need it.

    Dedicated Activity Coordinators

Our Activity Coordinators establish activities that our residents enjoy at a frequency that maintains engagement. Some are scheduled so that a routine can be established, and others are organised and promoted so that our residents can look forward to a special occasion together. The coordinators will also discover what additional events and activities each resident would like to see and, where feasible, incorporate those ideas into something that all residents can participate in. Residents’ birthdays and special milestones are also celebrated together.

We support our residents to maintain an active, healthy life within the home and the local community by having strong links with local groups. These relationships are designed to promote socialisation, mobility, interaction, independence, and self-confidence and to positively influence their health and well-being.

Activities for residents living with dementia

For residents who live with dementia or require support with their mental health, speech therapies are just one way in which we can provide assistance. Other mediums such as touch, sense, colours, music, animal interaction, and activities that encourage reminiscence memory can stimulate mental agility and provide positive outcomes for our residents.
