Respite Care

Many people across the United Kingdom are caring for someone they love. Whether this is taking them into their own home to provide care on a full-time basis or providing support at their home to enable them to continue to live independently. Live-in, or domiciliary carers are often also employed to care for people at home.

Whilst we always seek to care for the people we love, there is no getting away from the fact that it can be difficult. Carer burnout is something we see regularly, as well as the collapse of home-care packages and so respite care in residential and nursing homes is our way of providing support in those circumstances.

Short-term care can also be needed for other reasons too. We regularly care for people who have been through a challenging time with illness, or convalescence after an operation, and aid them to return safely to their own homes feeling stronger and in better health.

Short-term care is also often used as a precursor to long term care, and is an excellent way for someone to transition into life at a care home, experiencing all of the benefits living in a care home environment can offer and helping them to gently come to the decision that they may be better supported and feel safer having care on hand 24-hours a day.

Whatever the reason; be it that you just need a break to recharge because looking after your loved one has become difficult, your live-in carer is going on holiday, or perhaps you are wanting to go on holiday yourself and domiciliary care won’t be enough to support your loved one, we can help.

All Gold Care homes provide respite and short-term care starting from a minimum length of stay of just one week, and for as long as you need us. Click here to find your nearest care home today and see how we can help with your short-term care requirements.

Care Homes Offering This Service:

It was my mum’s first time in a care home for respite, so I was nervous about leaving there. The staff put me at ease and looked after her really well, and she enjoyed the interaction with the staff very much.

I cannot thank Gold Care enough. We have now used their facilities a number of times for respite care for my mother-in-law while my husband and I go on holidays (I am her full-time carer). The staff here are absolutely fantastic. There is such positive energy as soon as you walk in. Everyone is happy, smiling, socialising and upbeat. Every time I have picked her up from respite, she is just beaming from ear to ear! I just honestly can’t thank them enough.
