There is something about a live performance that just lifts the whole room, and our recent visit from Golden Years Entertainment was a lovely reminder of that.
It wasn’t just a performance, Golden Years Entertainment got all of our wonderful residents involved too! A few toes tapping at first, then smiles spreading, and before long our residents were joining in with the soft, flowing movements. The oriental music added such a calm and soothing feel, making it easy for everyone to relax and enjoy it in their own way.
For anyone who is not familiar with the Peacock dance, it is a lovely form of gentle exercise that supports both physical and emotional wellbeing. The slow, controlled movements can help to improve flexibility, coordination and mobility, while encouraging residents to stretch, move and stay active in a relaxed environment. Combined with music, these sessions can also help reduce stress, promote relaxation and encourage mindfulness.
Beyond the physical benefits, activities like this create valuable opportunities for connection. Sharing an experience together encourages conversation, laughter and a sense of community, while the familiar rhythm of music can spark positive memories and lift spirits.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos captured from the day:

At Burrows House, we believe meaningful activities play an important role in supporting wellbeing. Whether residents joined in with every movement or simply enjoyed watching the performance, everyone was able to experience the calming atmosphere and joyful energy the session brought to our home.
It was a wonderful afternoon, and we would like to thank Golden Years Entertainment for bringing such a unique and uplifting experience to our residents.
