Finding the perfect additions for our communal garden was the focus of a recent day out for our wonderful residents at Martins House, who enjoyed a visit to Stevenage Garden Centre on 22nd July 2026.
Our lovely residents, Brian, Janet, Linda and Irene, were joined by our Activities Coordinators, Nicola and Natalie, for a relaxed morning exploring everything the garden centre had to offer. Taking their time to browse the plants, garden displays and gift shop, our residents enjoyed choosing a few new additions to bring back and plant in our own garden.
After picking out their favourites, we rounded off the visit with coffee and cake in the garden centre café, giving everyone the chance to sit together and chat about their purchases before heading back to our home.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

For our residents, the highlight of the day was discovering the wide variety of plants and deciding which ones would look best in our communal garden. Irene thoroughly enjoyed the outing, saying,
“I loved the garden centre and would love to come again.”
Reflecting on the visit, our incredible Activities Coordinator, Nicola, said,
“Everyone really enjoyed looking at the different plants on offer and choosing some to bring back for our garden. It was lovely to see our residents taking such an interest in something they will continue to enjoy back at the home.”
At Martins House, we enjoy planning activities that reflect our residents’ interests and hobbies. Whether it is spending time in the garden, choosing new plants or enjoying a coffee together, our team is committed to creating opportunities that our residents can continue to enjoy long after the day itself.
