Our lovely residents at Martins House enjoyed a very special visit on 20 February 2026 when Amaya, a six-year-old member of the Rainbows, came to the home to share kindness, smiles and spring flowers.
Rainbows is the pre-Brownies Girl Guide group for girls aged four to seven, providing a safe and creative space where young girls can laugh, learn, and develop valuable communication and social skills. During their visit, Amaya chose to perform her kindness skills and earn her sleeve badge by bringing joy to our residents at Martins House. Amaya purchased beautiful spring daffodils herself and handed out a bunch of flowers to each resident, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere. Here’s Amaya brightening the day of just a few of our wonderful residents:

The lovely visit was supported by staff members Joyce, Jean, Gwen, Mary and Pamela, who helped make the interaction smooth and engaging for both the residents and Amaya. Residents were delighted to meet Amaya, learning all about the Rainbows group and the adventures and activities the girls take part in, from singing and storytelling to imaginative play and learning new skills.
One resident, Jean, commented that Amaya was
“such a lovely, polite little girl and it was a pleasure to meet her.”
Nicola also shared that “the smiles and joy on the residents’ faces was a delight to see.”
The event provided a wonderful opportunity to bring together different generations, combining the energy and kindness of a young child with the warmth and appreciation of the residents. The visit left everyone with happy memories and reinforced the importance of community, creativity, and sharing small acts of kindness.
