We were delighted to support a small group of our residents with a personalised afternoon outing to Marks and Spencer, creating the perfect opportunity for one to one time away from the home.
With Pamela, Jean, Carol and Susan joining us, accompanied by two of our activity coordinators, the outing was thoughtfully planned around the ladies’ individual interests. For Jean and Pamela in particular, the trip held special significance, as Marks and Spencer has long been a favourite of theirs. Taking the time to focus on what truly matters to each resident allows us to create experiences that feel familiar, comforting and genuinely enjoyable.

Throughout the afternoon, the ladies browsed the clothing and toiletries sections at their own pace, enjoying the simple pleasure of choosing something new, all with the reassurance of support close by. It was wonderful to see their confidence shine through, with every lady selecting and purchasing an item that brought her joy.
A highlight of the trip was taking a break to enjoy tea, coffee and cake together. This provided a relaxed moment to sit, chat and reflect on the afternoon, adding a social element that was equally as important as the shopping itself.
Pamela shared that she had “a lovely afternoon outside,” while Nicola, a member of our team, reflected on how much the ladies enjoyed both the shopping and the opportunity to stop for refreshments.
Experiences like this highlight the importance of one to one time, enabling us to truly understand our residents’ preferences and support them in maintaining the routines and activities they love. By creating these personalised moments, we continue to promote independence, wellbeing and a strong sense of connection to everyday life.
