Mother’s Day at Martins House Care Home was centred around something simple but important, spending time together and making the wonderful ladies in our home feel appreciated.
As our residents were joined by their families and friends, the dining room quickly filled with conversation, laughter and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We decorated everywhere with pink balloons and a Mother’s Day banner added a cheerful touch to the room, and had soft music playing in the background as everyone settled in.
Afternoon tea was then served, with sandwiches, fresh scones, lemon drizzle cake, tea and coffee shared across the tables. It was the kind of setting that encouraged people to sit a little longer, catch up properly and simply enjoy each other’s company. Our residents including Pat, Pamela, Mary, Hazel and Joan were pictured enjoying the afternoon with their loved ones, making the day feel especially personal. Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

You can find more photos from our Mother’s Day celebrations here or you can follow our Facebook page where we capture all of the special moments shared at Martins House.
For many, the highlight was having family around them. Seeing daughters, sons, grandchildren and friends gathered together created a warm atmosphere throughout the home.
There were also thoughtful touches that made the afternoon feel even more special. Each of the ladies received a small goody bag containing chocolates and wildflower seeds. Irene and Maggie were proudly pictured with theirs, ready to take the seeds away for planting.
The wildflower seeds felt particularly meaningful, as they will now become part of our community garden. A small gift that can continue to grow and bring colour to the outdoor space for everyone to enjoy in the months ahead.
One resident, Pamela, summed the day up beautifully, saying it was “a lovely day” and that the sandwiches and scones were delightful.
At Martins House, these moments of connection are what make occasions like this so meaningful. Bringing families together, celebrating our residents and creating little touches that last beyond the day itself is something we truly value.
