Gillian S

(Wife of Resident)

We have found the home to be very good and the staff and management to be excellent. My mother’s care has been absolutely fantastic, she is very happy at the home. They have done an excellent job throughout the COVID period, with no cases at the home.

Beverley T

(Daughter of Resident)

I have found this experience really good. The staff have all been helpful and really caring and if we had any problems they sorted them out for us, so we know that my wife is truly looked after and we know that she is safer here than at home.

Rob B

Mother is well looked after, staff are friendly and seem to care for the welfare of the residents.

Rodney T

The staff are amazing at Willowmead. They work so hard and nothing is too much trouble. The new garden is amazing, a very pleasant place to be. One care assistant, in particular, is fantastic.

    Meaningful and fulfilling activities

At every stage in life, maintaining your physical and mental health is important. We believe the key to this is to keep your mind, body, and soul stimulated and engaged every day, and this is a fundamental element of how we operate our homes.
In every home in our group, we have a dedicated activities coordinator who, in conjunction with the wishes of the residents, creates a varied program of activities and celebrations. We encourage everyone to participate and join in the fun and comradery that these events can bring. We like to welcome new residents to our activity programme by incorporating their favourite activities, expanding our selection for all the community to enjoy. Designed to engage our residents both physically and mentally, our activity programmes are also a source of great fun and help residents to live life to the fullest.
Most activities take place indoors. However, when the weather permits, we take maximum advantage of our lovely outdoor patio areas and adjoining gardens and also arrange local and national trips.

    No barriers to activity

For every resident, in every setting, be it residential, nursing, or those living with dementia, everyone receives support to be mentally and physically active to enhance their experience while they are staying us. We recognise that independent activity, hobbies, and day-to-day tasks boost an individuals’ self-confidence. We appreciate individual needs and understand their capabilities as part of our person-centred care, as a result; we can be the support they need at the time that they need it.

    Dedicated Activity Coordinators

Our Activity Coordinators establish activities that our residents enjoy at a frequency that maintains engagement. Some are scheduled so that a routine can be established, and others are organised and promoted so that our residents can look forward to a special occasion together. The coordinators will also discover what additional events and activities each resident would like to see and, where feasible, incorporate those ideas into something that all residents can participate in. Residents’ birthdays and special milestones are also celebrated together.

We support our residents to maintain an active, healthy life within the home and the local community by having strong links with local groups. These relationships are designed to promote socialisation, mobility, interaction, independence, and self-confidence and to positively influence their health and well-being.

Activities for Residents living with dementia

For residents who live with dementia or require support with their mental health, speech therapies are just one way in which we can provide assistance. Other mediums such as touch, sense, colours, music, animal interaction, and activities that encourage reminiscence memory can stimulate mental agility and provide positive outcomes for our residents.
