At Wickham Care Home, our wonderful residents are always delighted to welcome animal visitors. It is not just the cuddles they enjoy, but the chance to find out all about them and spend time together doing something a little different.
On 24th June 2026, we were delighted to welcome Lucy’s Pomeranians, along with six adorable puppies who spent the afternoon being thoroughly fussed over by our residents and their relatives. Around 15 people joined in the visit, with our residents quickly gathering to meet the puppies as they made their way around the room.
David, Violet, Peggy and Michael were all amongst those enjoying plenty of cuddles, with the puppies more than happy to soak up the attention. Our residents were keen to find out all about the puppies, asking Lucy everything from how old they were to how many toys they had chewed and whether there were still any shoes left intact.

One of our residents summed it up perfectly, saying,
“Oh they’re lovely, aren’t they.”
Our team shared how much these visits mean day to day, commenting, “Animals are one of the most engaging activities for our residents, so we encourage it as much as possible. It is lovely to see their smiles.”
At Wickham Care Home, it is often the simplest visits that bring the most enjoyment. Whether it is a litter of puppies or another shared activity, our caring team continues to create opportunities for our residents to spend time together, connect with others and enjoy moments that feel naturally uplifting in their day.
