Our annual Summer Garden Party returned to Hungerford Care Home on 18th July 2026, bringing our residents, families and members of the local community together for one of our favourite celebrations of the year.
More than 30 guests joined us in the garden for an afternoon of sunshine, live entertainment and plenty of summer fun. Our kitchen team got the afternoon off to a delicious start with freshly prepared burgers and chips, before The Singing Keeper took to the stage.
The live music was a real highlight for our residents, with familiar songs encouraging plenty of singing along and creating a lovely atmosphere throughout the garden. Barrie Mills particularly enjoyed the occasion, saying:
“It was a wonderful day. The weather was just right.”
There was plenty for our younger visitors to enjoy too. An ice cream van stopped by, while free face painting and a bouncy castle kept the children entertained. Guests could also try their luck at our Name the Bear competition and Guess the Sweets in the Jar game.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

For our residents, having their families and members of the wider Hungerford community joining them made the afternoon particularly special. It was a chance to enjoy their home and garden together, catch up with familiar faces and welcome new ones.
Reflecting on the afternoon, one of our wonderful Activity Coordinators, Teresa, said:
“It was a wonderful day and it was lovely to see our residents enjoying the entertainment and spending time with their families and members of the local community.”
At Hungerford Care Home, being part of the local community is an important part of everyday life. From welcoming local people into our home to creating opportunities for our residents to get out and about, we want our residents to continue feeling connected to the people and places around them. Our Summer Garden Party is just one of the ways we bring those relationships together.
