At St David’s Care Home, World Baking Day gave us the perfect excuse to make plenty of sweet treats with our wonderful residents.
This activity really did get everybody involved… Bowls were passed around, ingredients measured out, and each resident had their turn mixing, and before we knew it, we were working as smooth as a prouction line with our own roles and responsibilities!
As the mixture came together, so did the conversation. Our wonderful residents chatted away, sharing stories, laughs. Baking is something many people recognise and feel comfortable with, and is often a moment that brings us back to a familiar feeling surrounded by family and loved ones. Pardip especially enjoyed getting involved, mixing ingredients and chatting with those around the table.
There was a real sense of teamwork throughout the afternoon, with residents encouraging one another and enjoying each step. The photos say it all, smiling faces, busy hands and those quiet, happy moments of doing something together. Here are just a few moments that we managed to capture of the day:

Once the cupcakes were ready, we served them with fresh mango and strawberries, which went down a treat. Sitting together to enjoy what they had made felt like a lovely way to round off the afternoon, with plenty of proud smiles to go with it.
At St David’s Care Home, we know that some of the most meaningful moments come from the simplest activities. Whether it’s baking, gardening, music or spending time together over a cup of tea, we are always looking for ways to encourage conversation, celebrate residents’ skills and create opportunities for everyone to feel involved. Days like this are a wonderful reminder that it’s often the everyday moments, shared around a table, that become the most memorable.
