On 18 September 2026, Hillside Nursing Home came together to celebrate Staff and Care Workers Appreciation Day, a truly special occasion where we took time to recognise the dedication, kindness, and hard work shown every single day by our team.
To mark Professional Care Workers’ Week, around 35 of our wonderful residents, colleagues and family members came together for a celebration of the people who make up our Hillside team.
Rather than simply handing out awards from management, we wanted our residents to play an important part in the occasion. They took centre stage to present certificates and awards to members of the team themselves, giving them an opportunity to say thank you to the people they know and spend time with each day.
Here are some of our favourite photos from the celebration:

Our lovely resident, Muriel, was particularly proud to be involved:
“I felt very proud to be part of the celebration and to present the award to a member of staff. They work very hard and deserve to be recognised.”
Sheila agreed, saying she enjoyed having the opportunity to “give something back” and show the team how much their support is appreciated.
For the colleagues receiving the awards, having that recognition come directly from residents and their families made it particularly meaningful. Our team spoke about how grateful they were to be recognised and the privilege they feel in caring for the people who call Hillside home.
Our Home Manager was equally proud to see colleagues recognised, but particularly valued seeing residents and families involved in saying thank you.
Our home is shaped by the relationships built here every day. Residents get to know the people supporting them, and our colleagues get to know each resident as an individual, from their routines and preferences to the things that make them laugh.
A huge congratulations to everyone who received an award, and a thank you to every member of our Hillside team for the part they play in making our home what it is.
