We’re incredibly proud to have raised more than £500 for Alzheimer’s Society at this year’s summer fete at Peverel Green Care Home, thanks to the brilliant support of our residents, families, friends and local community.
Around 90 people joined us, with residents and their families welcoming friends from our local community, nearby sister homes and organisations we work alongside. Seeing so many different parts of our Chelmsford in one place was one of our favourite things about the day.
Our wonderful residents had been getting involved before the gates even opened. They painted bird boxes to sell at the fete, adding their own contribution to the fundraising stalls, while our team had been busy preparing everything else behind the scenes.
Once the fete got underway, there was plenty happening around the home. Our homemade cakes disappeared quickly, the BBQ kept everyone fed and our raffle and traditional fete games brought out a little friendly competition. Just to name a few, we had Hook-a-Duck, Tin Can Alley and Name the Teddy Bear which were amongst the favourites, while our younger visitors had their own space to play thanks to soft play provided by the Little Party Company.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

We were particularly pleased to welcome people working to support those affected by dementia across Essex.
We were lucky to welcome some incredible guests from across our local dementia community too, including Mark Neville, Community Development Coordinator and Pan Essex IDC Co-Chair for the Essex Community Dementia Support Service, and Melanie Williamson, Integrated Dementia Commissioner for Essex County Council. It was lovely to have them spend the day with us, chatting with residents and guests, sharing more about dementia support available locally and getting behind our fundraising.
By the end of the fete, all those cakes, games, raffle tickets, handmade bird boxes and generous donations had added up to a fantastic total of more than £500 for Alzheimer’s Society.
We couldn’t be prouder of what everyone achieved together.
A huge thank you to our residents, relatives, our team and sister home, local organisations and everyone from our community who donated, contributed or simply came along and supported us. Our relationships within the local community are an important part of life at Peverel Green, and we’re proud to use those connections to support causes that matter to the people who live and work here too.
Our summer fete may be over for another year, but our doors certainly aren’t closed. We look forward to welcoming our neighbours, families and local organisations back to Peverel Green again soon.
