At Kingston Care Home, International Women’s Day was marked with a celebration that proved the smallest touches can often make the biggest difference.
Our wonderful residents gathered for a relaxed pamper afternoon, where the focus was simply on feeling good, enjoying some time for themselves and sharing the experience together. There was an easy, cheerful atmosphere from the start, with plenty of conversation as everyone settled in for the afternoon.
A variety of pamper treatments were on offer, giving our residents the chance to be looked after and enjoy a little extra care and attention. Face masks proved to be especially popular, while others enjoyed having their nails done or simply sitting back and soaking up the atmosphere.
Alongside the treatments, glasses of Bucks Fizz and homemade scones added a lovely touch to the day, making it feel just that little bit more special. Our residents Alice, Lesley, Jeanne and Sue were among those enjoying the afternoon, with smiles all around.
Here are a few photos we captured on the day:

For many, it was a reminder of how uplifting a little pamper can be. Taking time to relax, feel refreshed and enjoy being looked after can do wonders for confidence and wellbeing. Jeanne summed it up perfectly, saying, “What a lovely way to celebrate, we could get used to this.”
Lauren from the activities team added, “We should celebrate us women like this every day!”
By the end of the afternoon, there was a real sense of contentment across the room. Residents looked refreshed, relaxed and happy after an afternoon that was as much about feeling good on the inside as it was on the outside.
Sometimes, a little pamper and good company is all it takes to brighten the whole day.
