Our garden was a busy place on 22nd August as Lucton House opened its doors to residents, families, friends and neighbours for our annual Summer Fête and Craft Fair.
Around 50 people joined us throughout the afternoon, but what made this year’s event particularly special was the brilliant collection of local makers and stallholders who came along to be part of it.
We had everything from handmade jewellery, knitted gifts and artwork to candles, cards, sweets, wax melts and personalised creations. With so many different stalls to explore, there was plenty to discover, and resident Susan particularly enjoyed having a look at everything on offer.
Alongside our craft fair, there was all the fun of a traditional summer fête, including a raffle and tombola, plenty of food and refreshments, and a few prizes waiting to be won.
Here are some of our favourite photos from the day:

For our Activity Coordinator, Abbie, seeing so many people getting involved made all the preparation worthwhile:
“It was an amazing day and a great turnout. All the stalls were wonderful, and it was lovely to see how much the residents enjoyed themselves.”
The fête also raised funds towards future activities, entertainment and trips for residents at Lucton House, so every raffle ticket bought and tombola played will help towards something for residents to enjoy in the future.
A huge thank you goes to all of the stallholders who joined us and brought so much variety to our craft fair, as well as our entertainers, volunteers and everyone across the Lucton House team who helped organise the day and keep everything running.
And, of course, thank you to every family member, friend and member of our local community who came through our doors and supported us. Seeing Lucton House filled with people from the community around us is exactly what we want our events to be about.
We want our home to be somewhere residents remain connected to life beyond our doors, while also creating plenty of reasons for our neighbours to come through them. Our fêtes, fundraisers and community events give residents the opportunity to meet new people, spend time with those closest to them and be part of what’s happening locally.
And our doors will be open again very soon!
Our next community event is our Macmillan Coffee Morning on 25th September, when we’ll be getting together over coffee and cake to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We’d love to welcome familiar faces from our Summer Fête, as well as anyone joining us for the first time.
