At Kent House Care Home, our VE Day celebrations brought a wonderful sense of togetherness, as residents and staff came together to mark a truly meaningful occasion.
We gathered everybody in the heart of our home to enjoy a live performance. We had various familiar songs that encouraged our wonderful people to sing along. Before you knew it, the whole room was grooving, tapping their feet and sharing memories with one another. Once again, this is the power of music proving how effective it can be in lifting spirits and bringing people closer together.
One of the loveliest parts of the day was seeing our residents fully embrace the moment, dressing up in a selection of fun wigs and hats. Some of our residents proudly posed for photos, while others enjoyed watching their friends join in. Here are just a few of our favourite photos that we captured:

Throughout the celebration, there was a wonderful flow of conversation, with residents reminiscing and sharing their own stories. These moments felt especially important, offering opportunities for connection, reflection and a shared sense of understanding. While VE Day is a significant moment in our nation’s history, for many of our residents it is also part of their own story, making the day all the more meaningful.
At Kent House Care Home, we believe in creating opportunities for residents to celebrate the occasions that have shaped their lives. Whether it is through music, shared memories, dressing up or simply spending time together, these moments help spark conversation, strengthen friendships and bring our community closer together. Seeing the smiles, laughter and pride throughout the day was a lovely reminder that celebrating the past is also about creating new memories together.
