There are some moments at Hillside Nursing Home that feel a little extra special, and celebrating Howard’s 89th birthday was certainly one of them.
We brought everyone together to mark the occasion, with around 30 of our residents, team members, and Howard’s lovely family joining us. His wife Christina, along with their two sons and grandchildren, were there, which made the day feel even more meaningful. Having family alongside us always adds something special, and it was clear how much it meant to Howard to have everyone together.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos celebrating Howard’s special day:

The afternoon was all about spending time with one another. Our wonderful residents enjoyed chatting with Howard’s family, sharing stories, and simply being part of the celebration. There was a real sense of togetherness throughout, the kind that comes naturally when people feel at ease and connected.
Music played a big part in the day, thanks to our wonderful entertainer Irene, who filled the room with familiar songs. It did not take long before people were singing along, with a few even up for a dance. For many of our residents, those songs bring back happy memories, and it was lovely to see that reflected in so many smiles. We finished off the day by gathering for birthday cake, giving everyone a chance to celebrate Howard properly. Moments like this are not just about the occasion itself, but about being together, celebrating each other, and creating memories that stay with us.
At Hillside Nursing Home, we know how important it is to keep families at the heart of everything we do. Welcoming loved ones to celebrate alongside our residents helps create a warm, homely atmosphere where everyone feels part of our community. It is these moments of connection that make life at Hillside so special.
