On 17th September 2026, Willesden Court Care Home enjoyed a truly heart-warming dog therapy session that brought plenty of smiles and cuddles throughout our home. The visit was centred around Peanut, our much-loved therapy dog, who spent the day meeting residents and sharing her gentle, calming presence.
The aim of the session was to support residents’ emotional wellbeing and provide meaningful companionship, as well as gentle sensory stimulation. Most importantly, it gave everyone the chance to interact with Peanut at their own pace, whether that meant stroking her, chatting about pets from the past, or simply sitting quietly and enjoying her company.
Here are some lovely moments from Peanut’s visit:

More than 20 residents and staff took part across the session, and it was lovely to see so many people engaging in their own way. The atmosphere was relaxed and full of positive energy, with plenty of smiles, laughter and warm moments shared throughout the home.
Our residents especially enjoyed having Peanut close by, with many choosing to have her sit on their laps or by their side. Hilda, Brida and Susan all had lovely individual moments with her, each responding in their own way but clearly enjoying the interaction. For Susan in particular, having Peanut on her lap brought a real sense of comfort and happiness.
Hilda said:
“Peanut is very lovely and made my day, I brought her a big smile,”
Our team also reflected on how positive the session was, noting the calming effect Peanut had on residents and the way she encouraged natural conversation and connection between everyone involved.
It was a simple but very special day at Willesden Court, and we are so grateful to have Peanut bring such joy and comfort to our residents.
