At Kingston House, we believe the little moments often have the biggest impact, and our recent arts and crafts session was a lovely reminder of just that.
Led by our fantastic activities team alongside our wonderful volunteer, Nikky, the session brought residents, relatives and team members together for a relaxed morning of creativity and conversation. With colouring sheets, vibrant pens and plenty of cups of tea, everyone settled in to enjoy spending time together.
One of our residents spent time carefully colouring in her ornament, thoughtfully choosing different shades to bring it to life. It was lovely to see the concentration on her face quickly turn into a smile as she admired her finished artwork. Around the table, conversations flowed naturally as residents shared colours, chatted about their designs and encouraged one another along the way.
At Kingston House, we know that meaningful activities are about so much more than keeping busy. Creative sessions like these help residents express themselves, maintain fine motor skills, encourage concentration and spark conversations that might not happen otherwise. They also provide a welcoming space for families and volunteers to join in, helping to strengthen the sense of community that makes our home so special.
Taking a person-centred approach means getting to know what each of our wonderful residents enjoy and work hard to create opportunities that reflect their interests. Whether someone enjoys painting, colouring, music or gardening, we aim to provide activities that support wellbeing while making every day enjoyable and fulfilling.
