Music has a way of bringing people together without much effort, and that was certainly the case during a recent visit from Celtic band, Shurig, at St Mary’s Court Care Home.
We welcomed them back into the home as part of our St Patrick’s Day celebrations, and the band quickly brought so much energy to the room. As the first songs began, our wonderful residents gathered together, some tapping their feet, others clapping along, while many joined in with the singing as the afternoon unfolded.
One of our residents summed it up perfectly, saying, “Although we are not Irish, we love the music.”
For our team, it was just as lovely to watch the reactions. Jo, our incredible Activity Coordinator, shared:
“It’s always lovely to welcome the Shurig band into our home. Our residents were clapping and toes were tapping all the way through.”
Alongside the photos from the day, we were also able to capture a wonderful video of the performance, showing just how much everyone enjoyed the afternoon and the energy the band brought with them which you can find on our Facebook page.
By the end of the visit, there were smiles all around and plenty of chat about when they might return again.
At St Mary’s Court, moments like these play an important part in life here. Music, laughter and shared experiences help create a warm sense of connection across the home.
