At The New Deanery Care Home and St Mary’s Court Care Home, we are proud to be part of our local community and to support opportunities that bring people together. This June, we brought together our wonderful residents, families, local football teams and supporters for a charity five-a-side football tournament in aid of Essex Dementia Care.
The event, organised by our Customer Relationship Manager, Gerald, and Activities Coordinator, Jo, welcomed more than 150 people for an afternoon of football, entertainment, great food and fundraising. Together, we raised almost £250 to help Essex Dementia Care continue supporting people living with dementia and their families across Mid Essex.
Watching so many generations enjoy the day together was incredibly special. Great-grandparents, grandparents, parents and children all gathered to cheer on the teams, catch up with friends and enjoy spending quality time together. Congratulations also go to local team Aviator Athletic, who were crowned winners of the tournament.
When planning the event, choosing Essex Dementia Care felt like a natural decision. The charity has been supporting people living with dementia for almost two decades, helping individuals remain independent for as long as possible while offering practical guidance, companionship and reassurance to families navigating their dementia journey. Today, they support more than 120 people through regular community groups, activities and ongoing family support.

Our relationship with Essex Dementia Care is one that means a great deal to us. It began more than three years ago when we worked together to provide additional companionship and support for one of our residents. Since then, the partnership has continued to grow through a shared belief that living well with dementia is about much more than meeting care needs. It is about helping people continue to enjoy meaningful experiences, maintain connections and feel supported every step of the way.
That shared commitment is something we are incredibly proud to be part of. Collaborating with local organisations like Essex Dementia Care allows us to extend that support beyond our own homes and strengthen the network of care available to families throughout our community.
We would like to thank everyone who joined us, donated, volunteered and helped make the day such a success. It was a wonderful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together for a cause that means so much to so many.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with Essex Dementia Care and supporting the invaluable work they do for local people living with dementia and those closest to them.
