We might not have been able to rely on the British summer weather, but a little rain certainly wasn’t going to stop our Summer Fête at Autumn Vale Care Centre!
More than 50 residents, relatives, friends, colleagues and members of our local community joined us on 26th August for one of our favourite dates in the Autumn Vale calendar.
We were particularly pleased to welcome our friends from Welwyn Church, as well as the team from the Strawberry Fields Farm, who arrived with some rather special guests of their own: a group of goats!
And, if we’re being completely truthful, the goats rather stole the show.
Our lovely residents loved meeting our four-legged visitors, and they quickly became one of the most talked-about parts of the day. In fact, when we asked afterwards what residents had enjoyed most, the goats came out firmly on top.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

There was plenty more happening around the home too. Singer Denise provided the live entertainment, while residents and guests enjoyed music and dancing, a BBQ, drinks, a raffle and, according to David and Catherine, some particularly delicious ice cream.
Then, inevitably, the British weather had its say.
Rather than calling it a day when the rain arrived, everyone simply moved between the indoor and outdoor celebrations and carried on enjoying themselves.
Sham, our Activities Coordinator, said:
“What a wonderful day! Despite the rain, everyone enjoyed the celebrations, music, dancing and lots of fun. A huge thank you to our amazing team and everyone who worked so hard to make our Summer Fête such a success. Most importantly, seeing our residents smiling and enjoying themselves made it all worthwhile!”
Thank you from all of us at Autumn Vale Care Centre
Our fête wouldn’t have been the same without everyone who joined us. Thank you to our residents and team, our families and friends, the volunteers from our local community, Welwyn Church, Strawberry Farm and Denise for all playing a part in the day.
We love seeing Autumn Vale busy with people from both inside and outside our home. Staying connected with our neighbours and welcoming them through our doors gives residents opportunities to continue being part of the community around them, while giving families and friends plenty of reasons to join in too.
And to our new goat friends, we hope this isn’t goodbye!
