We made the most of National Ice Cream Day on Monday 20th July with a little surprise…
Instead of our usual afternoon routine, we surprised everyone with an ice cream van that pulled up right outside Lucton House, music playing and all. It didn’t take long for everyone to notice, and soon there was a gentle buzz of excitement as our residents made their way outside to see what was going on.
With the van parked just in front of our home, it felt like a proper trip down memory lane. Our wonderful residents chose their favourites, with many going for a classic Mr Whippy topped with sauce, sprinkles and a flake.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

Teresa, our Home Manager, Ariana, our Deputy Manager, and Abbie, our Activities Coordinator, were all on hand helping things run smoothly, alongside our incredible care team. It was also really special to have some family members join us, making it feel even more like a shared summer moment.
We heard some lovely feedback throughout the afternoon, with comments like “The ice cream was lovely” and “What a lovely surprise.” Abbie summed it up perfectly, saying, “It went really well and the residents really enjoyed going outside to see the ice cream van there.”
Sometimes it’s the simplest treats that bring the biggest joy, and this was definitely one of those days.
