Our wonderful residents at Hatfield Nursing Home enjoyed an afternoon in the garden on 4th July 2026, as our team made the most of the summer sunshine with a BBQ, music and time spent together outdoors.
Taking a little inspiration from the American Independence Day celebrations taking place across the Atlantic, our team used the occasion as another opportunity to bring everyone together for an enjoyable summer afternoon.
More than 45 people joined the celebration, including our residents and our team. With the sun shining, everyone settled into the garden and enjoyed choosing from a selection of drinks, including beer, wine, fruit juice, tea and coffee, before tucking into a BBQ lunch of burgers, hot dogs, salad and chips.
We played music throughout the afternoon, creating the perfect backdrop as our residents chatted with one another and enjoyed spending time outside. For many, simply being able to sit in the garden, enjoy the sunshine and share the afternoon together was the highlight of the day.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

One of our residents summed up the afternoon by saying,
“It’s a lovely day to be outside.”
Reflecting on the celebration, our Chef, Jodie, said,
“It’s so nice to be out here and see everyone enjoying themselves.”
At Hatfield Nursing Home, we believe some of the most enjoyable moments can come from simply spending time together. Our team looks for opportunities throughout the year to create meaningful experiences around the interests of our residents, whether that means celebrating a special occasion, enjoying good food together or simply making the most of a sunny afternoon in our garden.
