National Picnic Day gave us the perfect excuse to make the most of the summer weather, bringing everyone together for a lovely afternoon of good food, great company and some very special feathered visitors.
Everyone spent time together chatting and catching up, with a friendly and easy going feel across the home. It was lovely to see everyone making the most of the sunshine and simply enjoying each other’s company, with friends, families and visitors helping to create a wonderful atmosphere across the home.

One of the biggest talking points of the day was a fascinating visit from Colin and his incredible birds of prey. Our wonderful residents had the chance to meet the birds up close, learning about the different species and hearing all about their unique personalities and behaviours. There were plenty of smiles as the birds perched calmly with residents, creating some unforgettable moments and lots of fantastic photographs.
Dee, Mavis and Carolyn especially loved the experience, enjoying the opportunity to get so close to such magnificent birds. For many, it was something completely new and sparked plenty of conversation long after the visit had finished.
Charlotte from our incredible activities team said:
“It was lovely to see so many residents enjoying themselves and the company of visitors from our community. Seeing everyone smiling, chatting and getting involved made it such a special afternoon.”
The day was a powerful reminder of just how important experiences like this are for our residents.
Activities like these encourage social interaction, stimulate conversation and provide meaningful engagement that supports both emotional and mental wellbeing. For many residents, trying something new or revisiting fond memories can be incredibly uplifting, helping to build confidence and bring genuine joy.
For our whole team at The Triangle Care Home, awareness days like National Picnic Day aren’t just about enjoying good food and fresh air, they are about creating enriching experiences that make a real difference to daily life, ensuring our residents continue to feel inspired and connected.
