On Tuesday 21st July, we were delighted to welcome back our friends from Lollipop Ponies for another special animal therapy visit at our home. Our residents always look forward to spending time with animals, and the arrival of the ponies brought plenty of excitement, smiles and conversation throughout the day.
This year is the Chinese Year of the Horse, so we have been especially pleased to invite Lollipop Ponies to visit us several times. These visits have given our residents the chance to enjoy something a little different, while also bringing back memories and creating new ones together.
There is something truly special about the connection between people and animals. Spending time with animals can bring comfort, encourage conversation and help residents feel engaged and involved. For many of our residents, it can also bring back happy memories from their past, whether that is owning pets, working with animals or simply enjoying being around them.
Here are just a few of our favourite moments that we captured from the day:

During the visit, our residents enjoyed getting up close to the ponies, giving them gentle strokes and feeding them carrots. There were lots of lovely moments as everyone took their turn saying hello and watching the ponies enjoy their treats.
One family member shared a wonderful memory during the visit, explaining how horses had been an important part of their family’s history. They remembered a time when a horse and cart was used to deliver groceries, showing just how meaningful these visits can be in sparking conversations and bringing memories to life.
Our residents all agreed how lovely the ponies were and how much they enjoyed their visit. Our team enjoyed it just as much, with one of our members especially delighted to have the opportunity to get close to a pony and feeding them some carrots for the first time.
