There’s nothing our resident Judith enjoys quite like spending time outdoors and watching wildlife, so we decided to arrange a little outing just for her!
Judith recently joined us at The Tudors Care Home, and we’ve loved getting to know more about her interests and the adventures she’s enjoyed throughout her life.
From being a pilot and trying skydiving to playing in a brass band, Judith certainly has plenty of stories to tell! She’s also an avid birdwatcher who loves spending time surrounded by nature.
With this in mind, our carer Arun accompanied Judith on a trip to the river on North Street on 11th September, giving her the chance to enjoy one of her favourite pastimes.
And the local wildlife didn’t disappoint!
Judith was particularly pleased to spot a family of swans resting beside the river, complete with their cygnets. She also enjoyed watching a beautiful barge pass by as she and Arun sat together taking in the surroundings.
Here are a few photos from Judith’s outing:

As they watched the river, Judith and Arun chatted about some of the experiences and adventures she’s enjoyed over the years.
Judith told us the outing was:
“Just what I needed.”
She also shared that she’d absolutely loved every moment and couldn’t wait to go again!
Arun was equally pleased to see Judith enjoying herself, particularly when they managed to get such a close look at the swans.
Making time for the things our residents love
At The Tudors Care Home, we know that moving into a care home doesn’t mean leaving behind the hobbies, interests and experiences that make someone who they are.
Getting to know our residents as individuals is an important part of life here, and we always look for opportunities to support them in continuing to enjoy the things that matter to them.
Whether that’s arranging a one-to-one outing, supporting a lifelong hobby or helping someone discover a new interest, we want our residents to have opportunities that reflect their own personalities and preferences.
For Judith, an afternoon by the river enjoying the local wildlife was just what she needed. And we’re already looking forward to helping her plan her next birdwatching trip!
