At Sycamore Court Care Home, we had a very special birthday to celebrate in May… Sidney’s! As our Home Manager, Lisa’s, much-loved dog and a familiar, friendly face around the home, Sidney is always on hand to brighten residents’ days, so when she turned seven, there was no question that she deserved a celebration of her own.
On 28th May, our wonderful residents, staff and eight of Sidney’s four-legged friends came together for a birthday party that was every bit as special as she is. The home was beautifully decorated for the occasion, creating a cheerful atmosphere as wagging tails, excited barks and plenty of smiles filled the room.
Carrie organised a fantastic party for the birthday girl, complete with a doggy buffet, party bags and even a ball pit filled with treats, which quickly became a favourite as Sidney and her furry friends sniffed out every last surprise. Of course, no birthday would be complete without cake, and after gathering together to sing Happy Birthday, Sidney tucked into her very own dog-friendly birthday cake alongside a selection of treats for her guests.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

While the dogs enjoyed their feast, our wonderful residents were treated to a delicious afternoon tea prepared by Chef Paul, including sandwiches, cream scones, cakes and plenty of other sweet treats. The afternoon was full of laughter as residents spent time stroking the dogs, watching them play together and, of course, making a fuss of the birthday girl herself.
Pamela summed the day up perfectly, smiling as she said, “This is just wonderful.”
For Lisa, seeing Sidney bring so much happiness to the home was a lovely reminder of just how much she has become part of everyday life at Sycamore Court. Whether she’s greeting residents in the morning, popping in for cuddles or celebrating birthdays in style, Sidney has a special way of bringing people together, and judging by the smiles around the room, her seventh birthday was one that nobody will be forgetting any time soon.
