At Headington Care Centre, we know that meaningful activities look different for each one of our residents. That’s why we take the time to understand each person’s interests, routines and life experiences, creating opportunities that reflect what matters most to them.
On Thursday 2nd July, our lovely Activities Coordinator, Lisa, spent some dedicated one-to-one time with resident Anne, enjoying a personalised outing around Headington. The trip was planned around Anne’s individual preferences, giving her the chance to revisit familiar places and spend time in the local community.
Together, they explored the local shops, enjoyed the warm weather and visited Anne’s favourite charity shop, where she enjoys browsing for books. They also stopped at Waitrose, a place that holds special memories for Anne, as she used to live nearby and shop there regularly. Returning to these familiar surroundings encouraged conversation, reminiscence and reflection as Anne shared how much the area had changed over the years.
Providing one-to-one experiences like this allows us to support residents in a way that is truly person-centred. Whether it’s revisiting places with personal significance, continuing lifelong interests or simply enjoying dedicated time together, these moments help maintain independence, strengthen confidence and promote emotional wellbeing.
Community outings also play an important role in helping residents stay connected to the places and experiences that have shaped their lives. By tailoring activities to the individual, we can create meaningful opportunities that support both wellbeing and quality of life.
At Headington Care Centre, we’re committed to delivering personalised care that recognises every resident as an individual, ensuring each person has opportunities to enjoy experiences that are familiar, fulfilling and unique to them.
