Our lovely residents from Brackenbridge House Care Home enjoyed a wonderful day out at Hounslow Urban Farm on 21st May 2026, spending time with a variety of animals and taking part in activities that brought plenty of smiles and some great new experiences along the way.
The visit was organised in response to our residents’ enjoyment of animal farms and provided an opportunity for them to connect with animals and enjoy a meaningful day within the local community. A total of 11 people attended the outing, including six of our wonderful residents and members of the Brackenbridge House team.
Upon arrival, our residents were greeted by playful monkeys and two friendly chickens roaming freely around the farm. The chickens proved particularly entertaining, even joining the group during lunchtime and creating plenty of laughter among residents and staff.
Throughout the day, residents had the opportunity to feed a wide range of animals using pellet food provided by the farm. There was no shortage of animals to meet and interact with. For many of our residents, feeding the animals became one of the highlights of the visit.
At 12:30pm, the group attended a special animal show where they were introduced to a fascinating collection of smaller creatures, including a snake, tortoise, large beetle, lizard and giant African snail. Several residents embraced the opportunity to hold and gently stroke the animals, demonstrating remarkable confidence as they tried something completely new.
Here are just a few of our favourite moments captured from the day:

The team at Hounslow Urban Farm were warm, welcoming and supportive throughout the visit, helping to make the day even more enjoyable for everyone involved.
At Brackenbridge House Care Home, creating opportunities for our residents to remain active, engaged and connected to the wider community is an important part of life at the home. Experiences such as this not only encourage social interaction and confidence but also help residents continue enjoying the activities and interests that matter most to them.
The team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Hounslow Urban Farm for helping to create such a memorable day.
