We were delighted at Newmarket-based Kingfisher House Care Home to welcome Colourbox Nursery, a wonderful local nursery in Newmarket, for a truly special intergenerational activity session. After reaching out to build a connection between our residents and the younger generation, we were thrilled to see just how beautifully everyone interacted and how much joy the visit brought.
The room was filled with excitement as the children arrived, and it was heart-warming to watch our residents engaging so naturally with them. Bill, in particular, spent the entire session sitting on the floor, playing, laughing, and embracing the moment with the children. Seeing him connect with his playful, childlike side was a highlight for everyone.
The session was filled with singing, giggles and shared moments. Everyone joined in with classic nursery rhymes, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere. We also provided snacks and hot chocolates for the children, nursery staff and our residents which were enjoyed by all.
This visit was especially meaningful for some of our residents who do not have grandchildren of their own. Spending time with the little ones offered companionship, warmth and a sense of connection that was truly touching to witness.
We are delighted that Colourbox Nursery will now be visiting us monthly, with each session featuring a different themed activity. Next month, we are excited to welcome them back for a festive morning of Christmas arts and crafts.
It was a truly special morning, one that brought generations together and created memories we will all treasure.
