On 15th July 2026, we packed up for a lovely day by the sea after a few of our residents mentioned how much they’d enjoy a trip to the beach. With the sun on our side, we set off to Littlehampton with Omana, Janet, Irene, Keith, Anthony and Vishva, ready for a change of scenery and some fresh sea air.
When we arrived, the group were able to make their way right down to the beach using the accessible pathways, which made such a difference. Being so close to the sand and sea meant everyone could properly take in the views, listen to the waves and enjoy that classic seaside feeling. There was a real sense of calm, mixed with a bit of excitement too.
Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

Of course, no seaside trip would be complete without fish and chips, so we stopped by the arcade and fairground to enjoy a proper seaside lunch together. There were plenty of smiles around the table, and a few seagulls hoping to join in as well.
One of the highlights of the day came from simply watching the fun around us. Omana especially enjoyed sitting by the beach, taking everything in. She loved being near the water and had a great time watching the carers try out the water slide, laughing as they splashed down at the end. She said it was “a lovely time” and was already thinking ahead, mentioning she might bring a spare set of clothes next time so she can join in herself.
It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves and making the most of the trip. Though it was a simple day at the beach, we will definitely remember it for a long time!
At Brackenbridge House, days like these are an important part of life. We love creating opportunities for residents to get out into the local community, revisit places that hold happy memories and enjoy new experiences together. Whether it’s a trip to the seaside, a visit to a local attraction or simply spending time outdoors, it’s all about making every day as fulfilling and enjoyable as possible.
