At The Tudors Care Home, we proudly celebrated World Culture Day, creating a meaningful opportunity to recognise and embrace the diversity that defines our home. With both residents and staff representing a wide range of backgrounds, including Scotland, Ireland, England, Nigeria, Zambia, India, Poland, and Malta, the day served as a reflection of the different cultures within our community.
Throughout the day, 25 residents and staff came together to share stories, traditions, and personal experiences. Conversations flowed naturally as we explored topics such as life in our home countries, weather, favourite holiday destinations, traditional clothing, music, marriage, and, of course, food. These discussions fostered a genuine sense of curiosity and appreciation, strengthening the bonds between us all.

A highlight of the celebration was the variety of international cuisine available. Our residents and staff enjoyed a selection of snacks from across Europe, including Poland, Romania, Lithuania, Greece, and Spain. In addition, Ibrahim prepared a traditional Nigerian meal of Egusi and Eba, which was warmly received and widely enjoyed. His traditional attire also drew admiration and sparked further cultural conversations.
The day also provided moments of personal connection and reflection. Residents shared their own travel experiences and aspirations, with many expressing an interest in learning more about different cultures. Activities such as learning simple words from each other’s languages added an interactive and engaging element to the celebration.
World Culture Day at The Tudors was a true reflection of our commitment to inclusion, respect, and community spirit. By celebrating our differences and recognising our shared values, we continue to build a strong, supportive environment where everyone feels valued and connected.
