A care home manager may be responsible for leading a home, but they are also very much part of the community within it. At Hatfield Nursing Home, that meant there was only one way we wanted to celebrate our Home Manager Nichol’s birthday… together.
On 14th August, more than 50 of our wonderful residents, relatives, friends and members of our team came together in the garden for a birthday BBQ in Nichol’s honour.
With the summer weather definitely on our side, everyone settled in for an afternoon of BBQ food, music and refreshments, with prosecco, wine, beer and soft drinks available.
Entertainment came from DJ NJ, who is already a firm favourite with our residents. It wasn’t long before the music had everyone involved, with one resident asking the important question:
“He was amazing. When is he coming back?”
Here are just a few of our favourite photos from the day:

For Nichol, however, one of the best parts of celebrating her birthday at Hatfield was being able to share it with the people she works alongside and supports every day.
“It’s been lovely spending my birthday with all of our residents and seeing them all having so much fun.”
The role of a Home Manager encompasses many different responsibilities, from leading and supporting the team to helping shape everyday life within the home. Just as importantly, it means getting to know the residents and families who make up the Hatfield community.
Nichol’s birthday gave us an opportunity to turn the tables for an afternoon and celebrate her. Seeing residents, relatives, friends and colleagues all together in the garden was a fitting reflection of the community she helps lead every day at Hatfield Nursing Home.
