Clara Mole, a treasured resident at Burrows House recently celebrated her landmark 100th birthday.
She was delighted to be presented with her very special centenary birthday card from her Majesty the Queen along with birthday greetings from our whole family at Burrows House.
Clara was born on 24th November 1921. She was the eldest child and had numerous brothers and sisters. Sadly, Clara’s mother passed away when she was only ten years old and Clara become primary carer for all her siblings. The youngest sibling at the time was only four months old. Clara never married or had children of her own as she devoted her life to raising her siblings. She worked as a cashier at a cinema where she met her long-term friend Terry. Her passion is for owls and her whole house and garden were always covered with owl ornaments.
Clara loves company and chatting to people and she was overjoyed that residents and staff held a birthday party in her honour. The icing on the cake was that one of her brothers joined to mark the occasion, along with his children.
Maryam Timamy, General Manager at Burrows House, “Clara is wonderful lady who shows great compassion to others, we love to hear her life stories and are in awe of her dedication to her siblings at such a young age. We hope that Clara enjoyed her celebrations, it was heart warming to be able to share the day with her. She is one very special lady.”
