Client Anthony Griffiths bids farewell to staff at Gold Care Homes’ Heath Lodge After Making a Full Recovery from COVID-19
Anthony Griffiths, who suffered from Covid, has returned home after being nursed back to health by staff at Gold Care Homes’ Heath Lodge in Welwyn, Hertfordshire.
Anthony was admitted to Heath Lodge’s Covid Recovery Unit following his discharge from hospital, as he was not yet at full health, and he did not have the equipment at home to meet his needs. Guided by the Unit Leads, Dini, Jemina, Marietta, Corazon, Gerry and the nursing staff at the home created a tailored care plan to get him back on his feet as soon as possible.
Having developed pressure sores whilst bed-bound in hospital, he was allocated a nursing profile bed with an airflow mattress set suitable to his weight and staff implemented a 2–4-hour repositioning regime. This prevented any further pressure sores from developing and, along with regular changes of dressings, enabled the existing to heal. Care staff encouraged Anthony to try to move a little more every day, from getting out of bed to sit in a chair to gradually taking more and more steps. Regular visits from a GP and Physiotherapist assisted in ensuring his recovery was on track.
The home’s activity coordinator, Mihaela Corina Necoara, visited him every day to chat and play games.
When bidding his fond farewells, Anthony commented: “Thank you to all the staff who have been very friendly and caring”.
Prarthana Bhandari, Care Home Manager for Heath Lodge: “It was a pleasure to care for Anthony and I’m grateful to my team for all their dedicated work which has enabled his recovery. We are all delighted to see him well and wish him good health”.
