Brackenbridge House
On Friday 27th January 2012 Mrs Hancock, a resident at Brackenbridge House celebrated her 100th Birthday! They held a birthday party for her with refreshments and food! Everyone had a lovely time. Heath Lodge
Heath Lodge supported the Dignity Action day on the 1st February 2012 by having a coffee and cake afternoon for relatives, residents and staff. A comment from the Administrator, "We kept the event fairly low key. The cake and tea provided a serene atmosphere for all to enjoy. They listened to classical music in the background, so that upon open discussions, people could be heard and listened to by all. Posters went up to advertise the event, a plan of action was implemented and tasks distributed to make sure the event ran smoothly. A beautiful cake display was arranged for all to see before they tucked in with their coffee. Overall, a fun afternoon was had by all."
Halcyon Days
Halcyon Days held a Dignity Action Day for their residents on Wednesday 1st February 2012. A comment from the Manager at Halcyon, "A good coffee morning this morning for Dignity Action Day. The cook made some fabulous cupcakes! All of the residents and some relatives joined in filling out postcards about what dignity meant to them. Some comments made were “ having people listen to you”, “having my hair done”, “Having your room kept nice”, “being treated with respect, our dignity is respected here” and many more. Everyone’s comments will now be displayed on new Dignity awareness notice boards for all to see."
On Friday 23rd December 2011 Halcyon Days held a festive show for everyone. A comment from the Home Manager, 'The show was very festive, lots of sherry and mince pies consumed and the residents danced the evening away. All slept well afterwards.'
Monday 19th December 2011 the local church came to Halycon Days and everyone enjoyed singing along to Christmas carols.
Kent House
On the 22nd December 2011 Kent House held a Carol Concert that the staff performed a short Rhyming Cinderella Play which enjoyed by everyone!
On 16th December 2011 Kent house had their Christmas Party. A comment from the Home Manager, 'The Christmas party was a great success. We had Karaoke and everyone joined in. We also had a lovely buffet which everyone seemed to enjoy. A few relatives attended'.
Autumn Vale
SANTA CLAUSE IS COMING TO TOWN
Our Home Manager at Autumn Vale dressed as Santa Clause for a day for their residents. Autumn Vale had their Christmas party on 17th December 2011 for staff, residents and relatives. A comment from the Activities Organisers, 'We raised over £170 towards our goal of providing a therapeutic fish tank for every unit, and everyone enjoyed the day. Many thanks to Yvonne Hanna for providing a delicious buffet and to Peter Wilbourn for his help behind the scenes. N.B We would like to thank Alan Williams and his family for the fish tank that they so kindly donated to Fern Lounge'.
Trip to Van Hagues
On Wednesday 7th December, on a brisk cold morning 4 staff, 2 relatives and 5 residents of Autumnvale enjoyed a relaxing and exciting morning at Van Hagues Garden Centre. Due to the cold day we all warmed ourselves up with pots of tea and traditional scones in the Café.
Everybody had a great morning and we came back to Autumnvale in very good spirits.

Halcyon Days
Saturday 10th December 2011 Halcyon Days had a Christmas Celebration. The manager commented, 'It went very well, all residents joined in & most of them had family or friends come in. We also had guests from the singing for the brain club we go to and an NVQ assessor with her mother. Pirton school children played instruments for the residents to sing carols to. Jim the entertainer came and sang lots of Christmas favourites. Everyone was dancing. One of our residents, Alan, dressed up as Santa and delivered presents to everyone. Lots to eat and drink!'
One of the relatives also commented, 'I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone at HDays for the wonderful party held for the residents and families last Saturday. Your staff worked so hard and we appreciated it very much. The staff in Nightingale always give 150% in caring for our Mum and Liz works very hard on the entertainment front.'
On Sunday 27th November 2011 Halcyon Days had the Salvation Army in for sherry and mince pies.
Willowmead Care Home
On the 11th December 2011 Willowmead held a Christmas Party for their residents where Peter King the entertainer sung with everyone. There was food and drink with a fun raffle and lots of dancing!
Heath Lodge
On Monday 5th December 2011 Heath Lodge had a 'Holiday Cruise' event. This event was designed to encourage those residents who want to take part, into role playing. "The Captain Welcoming Cocktail Party" was the theme, using streamers, banners and balloons to create a party atmosphere. The drivers of this event were to encourage laughter, interaction and team work. Finger food and non alcoholic cocktails were served throughout the session.
Saturday 3rd December 2011 Heath Lodge had a 'Pamper Morning'. A professional manicurist came into the home to manicure and paint the nails of those residents that fancied a treat. Tea/coffee and cakes were served throughout the morning.
On Friday 2nd December 2011 Heath Lodge held a 'Jeffs Clothes Show' where an experienced presenter was selling quality clothes at affordable prices. Refreshments were served throughout the event.
The Tudors
On Friday 25th November 2011 The Tudors Care Home held a Christmas fate for all! The manager at The Tudors commented, 'It went really well, well attended and raised over £300 in just 2 hours, Teresa and Debbie did a great job, family support on stalls was great, a good time had by all'.
Heath Lodge
Saturday 5th November 2011 Heath Lodge had a 'This is Your Life' event. The administrator at Heath Lodge commented, 'This activity revolved around a reminiscing session of Primary events that took place during the 40s/50s using picture objects, music and any other contribution put forward by the residents. An Information folder of the event was handed out to the residents that took part. Also included in the folder were events that took place on the DOB of each resident.'
Slipper & Shoe Party - Thursday 10th November 2011. The administrator at Heath Lodge commented, 'The event was a great success, Residents that required slippers or shoes were well looked after by Bob the presenter, a personal and friendly service was provided. Bob has years of experience working in Care Homes measuring and feeting foot wear to all. Tea and cake was served throughout the session'.
Saturday 19th November 2011 - Monte Carlo Session. The administrator at Heath Lodge commented, 'On this occasion it was all about getting the residents and their families together for a fun afternoon. Roulette was played and presented by Steve, No money involved, prize for the winner, fun and laughter was had by all! A buffet tea was also provided. (Photos were taken)'.
Halcyon Days
On the 29th October 2011 Halcyon Days had a Halloween Party for all their residents, staff and visitors to enjoy. The Manager commented, ‘The party went well. Lots of eating & drinking. Jim the entertainers singing got everyone involved. Some staff, residents and visitors dressed up. Spooky decorations were put up. We also had guests from the “singing for the brain” club we go to. A good time had by all’!
The Tudors
On Saturday 20th August, The Tudors Care Home held a Summer Fete for all to join! The event started at 14:00pm and had the pleasure of Malcolm Pugh and his sounds of Sinatra play for all everyone who attended. All the residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well as the friends and family who came to help raise money for the resident’s fund. During the event there were raffles, tombola, a white elephant stall, refreshments and much more. The Summer Fete was a very successful day and would like to thank everyone who helped raise money for the resident’s funds which in total we raised £400!
Willowmead
Willowmead held a Summer Fete on Thursday 25th August for the residents and their friends and families. Although there were a few showers of rain the summer fete went really well. They had lots of visitors and the residents all enjoyed walking round the various stalls. There was a raffle with lots of lovely prizes, tombola, bouncy castle, cake stall, bar-b-que, hook a duck, face painting, henna tattoos and some people came in fancy dress. Everyone had a good time and the residents all slept really well that night.
Bletchley House
Bletchley House held a BBQ on Friday 2nd September 2011. The BBQ went very well. It was a good afternoon enjoyed by all. We had many residents’ families join us for some late summer sunshine and an afternoon of fun in our beautiful gardens and dining room. We kicked off the BBQ party at 2-30 with Sue King at the keyboard with a vast selection of music and plenty of songs new and old. We had a good old sing song with Sue and later we were joined by Martin Reeves and his Guitar, always a truly rousing experience and so much fun! The food was wonderful grilled to perfection by Margaret our Activities Organiser and everyone went home with very happy tummies! Many many thanks to our residents, visitors and staff for coming along and making it such a success. With Halloween fast approaching, its time to start planning some spooooooky fun!

Kent House - 100th Birthday!
Mrs Larkin came into Kent House on 11th August, 2008 and was 100 years old on 26th August 2011. She is still able to walk and do everything for herself. We think she looks younger than the Queen. She is holding her birthday card from the Queen.
Autumn Vale - 100th Birthday!
On Friday the 16th September 2011. Claire Conrad’s family and friends and Autumnvale’s residents and staff celebrated Claire’s 100th birthday.
People travelled as far as Singapore for the event. The mayor was on hand to offer his congratulations . The party was held in our Fern Yellow Lounge allowing guests to relax there and on the grassy knoll.
Claire received her card from the Queen, and many other well wishers shared their good thoughts.
After the civic party a Autumnvale party was held for this special lady. Its not everyday you turn 100 years old!
Autumn Vale & Heath Lodge
On the 10th September 2011, Autumn Vale and Heath Lodge held their first joint End of Summer Fete. The Fete was primarily organised by Danni and Tina who are the activities officers for the two homes. Both ladies ensured a nice and family oriented event took place with the aid of the deputy managers and managers.
There was Zumba, activities stores, a raffle, bric bac, a lady singer, traditional Indian Cuisine (which the staff of Autumnvale stayed up to 4am to prepare), Burgers, Ice cream not necessarily all at once. Children running up the hill at Autumnvale, creating masks. Residents mingled with family members and staff brought their families.
It was a nice day and people smiled at each other as they passed in the car park.
After costs £273.50 was raised which was split equally between the two homes.
