Newstead Nursing Home is a 36 bedded Nursing home which is set in an affluent London Suburban area. It is just 10 minutes walk from Highgate tube station and 5 minutes from Hampstead Heath. There are local newsagents and taxi firms available to take you into town. The nursing care that we offer is of a consistently high standard, ensuring that you retain your individuality, dignity and respect at all times. The home also has a landscaped garden, which is wheelchair accessible and open to everyone. You can go out and sit in one of the several seating areas, have a walk around or simply just enjoy the fresh air.

About the staff
Experience and qualifications of management team.
Manager:
Sharron Richardson will be acting as a manager for Newstead Nursing Home, pending appointment of a registered manager. Sharron has 25 years’ experience as a nurse and manager. She also has a business degree.
Administrator:
Anna Allen is the administrator for Newstead Nursing Home. Anna worked in another Gold Care Home as administrator before transferring to Newstead. She has 20 years experience in her field and has completed all her mandatory training.
Senior Carers:
All are Registered General Nurses are required to keep their registration with the NMC current. To do this they must undertake regular training. Most of the nurses have worked at Newstead for many years and their individual experiences as nurses ranges across decades.
The majority of Care Assistants have NVQ level 2. Some have NVQ 3. A small proportion of staff are working toward obtaining these qualifications. The care assistants have come from diverse backgrounds and their experiences reflect this as they range from being newcomers to those who have worked for many years within this field.
The non-care team consists of a:
Head Chef who has successfully completed all food Hygiene and other mandatory requirements and has worked at Newstead Nursing Home for a number of years. Our Head Chef is very experienced and is very aware of a good nutritional dietary needs of the residents.
Catering Assistants have successfully completed all Food Hygiene and other mandatory training.
Housekeeping/ Domestic have successfully completed all mandatory training. The staff have been working at Newstead for an extensive period and have had experiences in other roles such as Laundry and in the kitchen.
Laundry Assistants have successfully completed all mandatory training for specific role. Both staff experiences range up to 2 years. In addition they have had experience as domestic staff.
Maintenance have also completed their mandatory training and have worked at Newstead for several years and as results has gained extensive experience in relation to this position.

Accommodation:
Newstead Nursing Home is a 36 bedded care home with 3 single rooms with ensuite facilities and 33 single rooms without ensuite facilities. You can make your room as much like home as possible by bringing in small pieces of furniture and other personal belongings. Visitors are of course, always welcome.
Lounge and dining area:
The home has one dining room, a sitting room and a conservatory in which you can relax, socialise with the other residents and receive visitors. You can make use of the privacy of your own room as you choose.
Meals:
At Newstead we offer specific menus to cater for residents’ cultural food requirements. Residents have a choice from the daily menu and if a resident is not happy with the options then an alternative can be provided. We also offer meals to suit specific dietary requirements. Meals are served in the dining room, but can also be served to you in your room upon request. We try to be as flexible as we can and arrangements can be made if you want to go out or are unable to return in time for a meal. You can also choose to miss a meal or request a snack at a different time. Tea, coffee, juice and snacks are available throughout the day at any time you want and a night time menu is also provided for you in your room, should you feel hungry at night.
Activities:
We have activities that cover everyone’s interests, hobbies, choices including outings, painting, art, quizzes, crosswords, hand massage, puzzles, card games, sing-along’s and gardening.
There is an in - house library where you can go and get a book to read or a DVD to watch in the comfort of your own room or in one of the sitting areas. There is also wireless internet access available for you to use if you wish.
The activities organiser also arranges trips to the local shops where you can choose and purchase your own sweets, toiletries, birthday cards or other personal requirements and larger items. Residents are also supported to go out on local visits, depending on capability including the local park or pub.
We have social occasions where residents, staff, volunteers, families and friends can get together and enjoy themselves. An entertainer, an old time music hall or country and western group with perhaps a barbeque and raffle, generate an excellent atmosphere which all can enjoy.
Activities will vary as the weather becomes warmer as the Residents will be encouraged to go into the garden where games or gardening may be organised for them.
The Home offers assistance to anybody wishing to practice his or her chosen faith. This may mean an accompanied visit to a place of worship or organising someone to make a visit to the Home.

We are able to arrange hairdressing facilities, chiropody, dental care and eye care for you.
Visitors:
There are no restricted visiting hours. Your relatives and friends can come and see you anytime they like and are encouraged to visit whenever it is convenient for you. Visitors can have a meal with you with prior arrangements, a nominal charge will be made for this. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the conservatory.
Your relatives and friends are invited to attend meetings with the manager on a regular basis. Here they can raise any concerns and discuss ideas for improving services.
