Heath Lodge is a 67 bedded Residential care home which is set in landscaped gardens in Welwyn. It is situated near to Welwyn Village and Mardley Hill. Heath Lodge is an old tudor style building which used to be Heath Lodge Hotel many years ago. It is set in beautiful grounds and is only a short walk to the local shops. Heath Lodge is currently on a bus route. Arriva run two buses from WGC to Welwyn and the bus stop is situation at the bottom of Canonsfield Road. Unfortunately, there is a ten min walk up a hill to get to Heath Lodge. Taxis run also. At the bottom of Canonsfield Road, where the bus stop is, there is a small parade of shops, including a florist, a small supermarket, two newsagents, a butchers and fruit and veg shop, a hairdressers and a fish and chip shop.

About the staff
Manager:
Ruta Nahani is the manager at Heath Lodge. She has over 9 years of experience in care and has been a home manager since 2004. She holds the Registered Managers Award, Learning and Development Level 4 award. Ruta is also an NVQ assessor and has now completed her degree and obtained BA(Honours) in Social Work.
Administrator:
Lisa Pearson has completed both her NVQ 2 and 3 in Business and Administration. She has been working for Gold Care Homes for over 4 years and also holds NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care. She is currently studying for the PTLLS award (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector). Lisa is effective in dealing with credit control, maintaining budgets and has built up some good relationships with relatives, GP’s and Social Workers.
Senior Carers/Unit Leaders:
All staff have NVQ ¾ or the Nariq equivalent. They also hold Level 2 in Dementia.
Care Staff:
All care staff hold NVQ 2 in Health & Social Care and all new starters have enrolled on a course.

| A Sensory garden? | Yes. This is provided for residents to explore their five senses, (touch, taste, sight, sound and smell). |
| Any pets? | Pets are allowed but we have none at the moment. (Please check with staff before bringing any pet into the home.) |
| A Mini Bus? | Yes, Heath Lodge has the use of a shared mini bus. |
| A Residents Committee? | Yes, it is called the Heath Lodge Committee. |
| Wheelchair accessible? | The home is wheelchair accessible. We have two ramps at the front of the building which leads to the front entrance of Heath Lodge. |

We also have a lift as a number of our residents are wheelchair bound. |
Additional Information
Accommodation:
We have four units, Poppy which consists of 24 beds, Rose Gardens with 9 beds, Daffodil Rise with 16 beds and Primrose with 18 beds. All 67 rooms have en suite facilities except for two. Most of the rooms have a wet room but residents prefer to use the communal bathrooms and showers. Two of our baths have hoists to assist the frail.
Meals:
Residents have a choice from the daily menu and if a resident is not happy with the options then an alternative can be provided. We also offer meals to suite specific dietary requirements.
Activities:
We have a full time activities co-ordinator who does painting, cookery, walks in the garden, life history booklets, karaoke from the 50 and 60’s. We also have outside entertainers who visit the home. We have a knitting circle and do lots of reminiscence, quarterly meetings with relatives, monthly meetings with committee and mini bus outings.
Services:
We have the facilities of a visiting hairdresser, chiropodist, dentist, optician and GP’s visit the home every two weeks.
Other Information:
We have a new Welcome Pack for all new residents. Heath Lodge is a lovely, homely, safe, comforting home for the elderly and we are accredited for people with dementia and all staff have undergone extensive training in dementia awareness.
