Hillside Nursing Home - June 2011

Hi everybody and welcome to the June edition of Hillside’s Newsletter. We hope you are all well and looking forward to the summer season, we definitely are. We like to keep you informed of what happens at Hillside and having a newsletter is a good way of allowing those that cannot always attend meetings, to be well informed. We hope you enjoy this one and find it informative. If you do have any suggestions for the next newsletter or would like to contribute an article or poem etc, then please let Sultan, Karen or Chris know.

Staff and residents Updates

We are in the process of recruiting new members of staff at the moment within the Home .Once their CRB arrive we can start training them.

Welcome to all the new staff.

Goodbye to:

Julie, Brinto, Liza, Sukiania and Connie.

Well wishes to Tammy and get well soon.

Planting and the Gardens

I hope you all agree that the front garden is now looking lovely. Both Chris’s, Tony, Michael and the residents have been planting in the hanging baskets and boxes. Michael has completed the gazebo on the front lawn. We hope that the residents will get to spend lots of time out in the sun, enjoying the weather and the great outdoors.

The Sensory Garden is also coming together. Michael has put in a water fountain in the front tub which the wild birds come and visit. We will be painting the bench and tubs in the next few weeks, which will brighten up the garden even more .We thank you for all your hard work and contributions.

SENSORY ROOM

The sensory room is still in the process of being completed we have  put a new relaxing reclining chair, but still need to find some suitable light  features and material for touch.

Once it is ready we will be starting hand massage, aroma and playing relaxing music.

We hope this will be a great asset to the home for all to enjoy.

Just a little note to say that we have 2 rabbits in the courtyard that bring joy to the residents, and Karen brings her puppy in for the residents to stroke and pamper.

SEASON IN THE SUN

Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We've known each other since we were nine or ten
Together we've climbed hills and trees
Learned of love and ABC's
Skinned our hearts and skinned our knees

Goodbye my friend it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that spring is in the air
Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and I'll be there

We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time

Goodbye Papa please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
You tried to teach me right from wrong
Too much wine and too much song
Wonder how I got along

Goodbye papa it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Little children everywhere
When you see them I'll be there

We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song like the seasons have all gone
We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song like the seasons have all gone

Goodbye Michelle my little one
You gave me love and helped me find the sun
And every time that I was down
You would always come around
And get my feet back on the ground

Goodbye Michelle it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers everywhere
I wish that we could both be there

We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time
We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun

But the wine and the song like the seasons have all gone
We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time
We had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song like the seasons have all gone
